"Faith is to believe
what you do not see; the reward of this faith
is to see what you believe." --St. Augustine
We’ve all heard the idioms "Be careful what you wish for" or "you reap what you sow"
We are living in exciting times indeed! The new science paradigm in quantum physics is proving that we turn our focus into our reality. In other words, what we believe inside ourselves tends to become a part of our everyday lives. It is now repairing the Cartesian split that in the 17th century separated the mind and body as a scientific study.
A groundbreaking movie called, What the Bleep do we know!!? led me to read about eminent professor of Physiology and Biophysics, Candace Pert PhD. She was Chief of Brain Bio- chemistry at the NIH in 1995. She discovered new types of psychoactive drugs that the brain produced; endorphins, which means "morphines from within" and they are similar to opiates taken as drugs. What she discovered, is what she termed in her interesting book ‘Molecules of Emotion’ i.e. emotions that we feel circulating through our bodies as chemicals. These chemicals are called neuropeptides.
Under a powerful microscope, one could be forgiven for thinking that they were looking at an electrical storm in the sky, as the electricity fires between the synaptic gaps in the brain, like forks of lightning between the sky and the ground. What it seems to be carrying, amongst other information, are our emotions. As Pert says "Our emotions decide what is worth paying attention to..." These create neural pathways and as we now know - the mind looks to pattern match, thus creating similar thoughts and feelings which lead to causing a certain kind of behaviour and then leads to creating the same resultant reality. This is due to the brain and body looking for the same chemical structure that it has, in essence, become addicted too.
Quantum physics is now proving that thought is a definite energy that becomes a physical entity. Is it that emotion is the messenger of thought that leads to solid proof in front of our eyes? In other words, thoughts become things as James Ray is quoted as saying in What the bleep do we know!!?
So what does this have to do with me? Well, we are all set with belief systems since very early on in our childhood, through positive or negative programming from parents, teachers, authority, siblings and so forth that leaves an un-changing imprint on our young minds. These imprints colour everything we do. Let me say that again; those imprints become our personal belief system. And from that very perspective, is how we will see our personal world. For example, if a little girl grows up with parental rejection, she could possibly consider adult loving relationships are meant to hurt. Her belief system, unconsciously, will cause her to look for a partner that can provide her with that exact outcome. Again this is all completely invisible to her. So, why do some of us become resounding success stories and others can’t seem to get off the ground with a ladder? The same rules apply. What we believe inside ourselves will become our reality.
Quantum physics teaches that all equal and exact infinite possibilities are around us all of the time. That means that your success is there to be focused on too and lived out in your reality. So what stops us? Our emotional selves. Our belief systems, caused by learned responses and conditioning. Let me give you an example of a belief we all have in common; the sun rises in the morning! We all know that it does, we never question it, we know it is there and we accept it as such. A pretty strong belief? So think about it in relation to our example of the little girl with parental rejection. She probably cannot remember such an event, due to the unconscious mind burying it so deeply so as not to further traumatise the adult. But... the belief is there; the imprint is there, and in the chemical structure that is causing the system of emotion to manifest itself in her reality through an unconscious function to go and match her belief with a similar external event. Her belief that love is meant to hurt will influence her partner choices and her relationships.
What we focus on becomes a definite reality. It becomes a frame of reference in our internal world and is designed to run without interruption for our lifetime. So, how do we change a negative belief of ourselves? Refocus on what we do want! Believe, as strongly as the sun rises in the morning, that we can have better relationships, better business successes, better lives. We need to clear our limitations and dissolve old programming.
There are many ways to help you do this: Positive affirmations, positive suggestion, psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Hypnoanalysis, Part Therapy, Inner Child Therapy, Transactional Analysis to name a few methods of change.
Some people might not understand that a root cause affects how they think and react. This is known as Expectation and Belief. Sometimes people think they can generate different results without changing their thoughts or actions. Getting wanted results does not come from changing your external situation, but most definitely comes from changing your internal situation.
